Background of the Study
In the era of e-commerce, fast and reliable delivery services have become a critical factor influencing customer satisfaction. In Nigeria, where online retail is rapidly expanding, the demand for swift deliveries has intensified, especially in Kwara State, a region known for its growing e-commerce market (Adebayo & Olatunji, 2023). Customers increasingly expect quick, efficient, and cost-effective delivery options, and businesses that fail to meet these expectations risk losing customers to competitors.
Studies have shown that the speed of delivery is directly linked to customer satisfaction and repeat purchases, with faster delivery times often correlating with higher customer retention rates and better brand loyalty (Olajide & Yusuf, 2024). As online retailers in Kwara State strive to meet these demands, the implementation of efficient logistics and supply chain systems becomes essential. However, while fast delivery is seen as a key differentiator in the competitive e-commerce landscape, its specific impact on customer satisfaction in Kwara State remains underexplored. This study seeks to examine how fast delivery services affect the overall customer experience in the region’s online retail sector.
Statement of the Problem
Online retailers in Kwara State face significant challenges in meeting customer expectations regarding delivery speed, which negatively affects customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. Despite the growing importance of fast delivery services in e-commerce, many businesses in the region struggle to implement efficient logistics systems due to infrastructure limitations, high operational costs, and inadequate delivery tracking mechanisms (Ogunyemi & Salihu, 2025). This research seeks to identify the relationship between delivery speed and customer satisfaction, addressing a critical gap in the understanding of customer behavior in the context of Kwara State’s online retail industry.
